Melanie Bettinelli is a native Texan who has a BA in English from the University of Dallas. Twenty years ago she moved to Massachusetts to study Irish literature at Boston College and has never left. She has taught literature and composition as an adjunct professor at Salem State University and Montserrat College of Art but currently is a full-time homeschooler. She is passionate about poetry, good writing, and effective communication.
She has blogged for the past fifteen years at The Wine-Dark Sea, writing about literature, faith, family, art, and homeschooling, as well as about shoes, ships, sealing wax, cabbages and kings. She also talks about pirates, penguins, and the adventures of life with five children with her husband Domenico on their weekly podcast Raising the Betts.
